At E3 this year CrazyEcho was roaming the floors of the convention center checking out all of the new gadgets, announcements and game demos. There was also food there. Not just the food at the vending areas, I’m talking about a booth. GamerGrub as it’s called sets out to separate itself from the rest of the snacks we all like to consume while mashing buttons. That’s right a snack that puts gamers as its target market.
Gamer Grub is distributed by Biosilo Foods, Inc. out of San Diego California. There are currently 4 flavors available. They are Pizza, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Wasabi and the good old standby Chocolate. Visit their website for a ton of information about the product, submit your flavor ideas or order some for stocking in your store or food pantry. I included some links for you at the bottom of this post. Now on to what I think of it.
Crazy sent me two flavors, Pizza and PB&J. First and foremost the packaging is indestructible so break out the scissors. You’ll notice on there it boldly says “No Greasy fingers” and “No Keyboard Crumbs”. That’s to say if you eat it as intended. It’s considerably less crummy and greasy than some other common snacks but the “No” part comes with how to eat it. It’s meant to be poured into your mouth directly from the bag. It’s a small one person resealable bag. The mixture of items in the bag is reminiscent of trail mix. In order to get the full flavor you don’t just eat once piece at a time. The PB&J for example contains peanuts, little strawberry jelly chips and peanut butter chips along with a sort of soft sweet bread piece. Alone they all taste good but together in your mouth you get the sensation of eating a PB&J sandwich. The Pizza flavored one brought two things to mind. Pizza Combo’s meet trail mix. It’s a little better than that though. In it you’ll find cheese curls, pizza cashews, fried onions and sesame sticks to name a few. Like PB&J just pour this into your mouth directly from the bag with one hand and enjoy. It seemed a bit spicy at first taste but it’s a mild good spicy. I don’t particularly like onions but I didn’t find I tasted them that much. Actually you don’t taste any one thing too much, it blends in nicely and smoothly. So if you don’t like some of the ingredients don’t be turned off right away.
All in all it was a good snack and if it was sold near where I live I’d probably buy it over some other snacks. Even though it’s intended for gamers that’s not to say anyone shouldn’t try it. It’s a great snack to take with you anywhere you are on the go and it’s full of vitamins. I checked the snack aisle at a grocery store yesterday and didn’t find anything quite like this. It’s worth a try whether you are a gamer or not.
