Sonic the Hedgehog returning to 2D

sonic2010Let me start out by saying that loved the original Sonic the Hedgehog games that were made for the Sega Genesis, so hearing this news is great (that is if Sega can pull it off).

Now according to an article by Gamespot, Sega is going to be releasing a 2D high definition Sonic game in 2010.  The game, currently codenamed Project Needlemouse, is going to be built from ground up and is planned for release in 2010.  According to Ken Ballough, the associate brand manager for Sega, explained that “Old-school Sonic fans have long asked to see Sonic return to a more 2D style of gameplay.”  In my opinion, he is totally right.  From the newer 3D sonic games that I play, I feel that I get more satisfaction from the old 2D games.
