This week in Xbox Live Arcade –
XBLA gets a strange new puzzle platformer this week. Lucidity derives it’s name from the lucid dreams your character has that make up the levels of this game. I didn’t really like it at first, but as I played it, I found myself strangely attracted to the gameplay. The gameplay itself reminds me of a game called Lemmings. Sofi, the little girl who is the games playable character, will walk endlessly across her dreamscape until she either makes it to the end or runs into an obstacle. It’s up to you to place objects in front of her at key points in order to make her react to avoid danger, collect items and make it safely to the end.
The graphics are reminiscent of a child’s storybook but the puzzles are very adult like. There is more than one way to finish a level and you’ll have to replay levels in order to collect every firefly. She catches magical fireflies with her grandmother so it’s only fitting that she dreams about them too. There are plenty of unlockables and lots of levels to appease you. Definitely give the demo a shot, it’s a different style of game and can be slow going at first, but you may find yourself wanting more.
