Xbox King – A Little About Me
Posted by xboxking in A Slice of Us, BTG on October 14th, 2009
As some of you may know, I was mentioned often as “the biggest fan” in many of the Breaking the Game podcasts. Luckily all my dedication and fanboy-ism paid off and now I am a contigent staff writer for BTG. What that means is that I am going to start writing some fun pieces for BTG and hopefully I can join them as a full time staff member if people like what I have to say!
A little about me — I own an Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS. As the name suggests, I am a huge Xbox fan and I research and investigate until I find out everything about everything related to Xbox.
I am a huge fan of writing and I already have some pretty interesting ideas planned. You probably already noticed that after reading my previous news story, “Answer the Call”. The majority of my writing will be reporting on humorous incidents and writing articles that make fun of what marketing companies send out to the masses.
I hope you enjoy my writing and I will see you around!!!
Artist based music games… Yes or no?
Posted by Skylark95 in A Slice of Us on October 13th, 2009
That is the ultimate question that I and several other gamers have questioned all the way from the start of the Guitar Hero series. Activision started the trend with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Harmonix continued the idea just recently by releasing The Beatles Rock Band. From what I can recall, the number of single artist based music games is up to at least five, featuring the bands I mentioned above plus Metallica, AC/DC, and Van Halen.
Now the reason I bring this all up in the first place is because there may be another single artist based music game on the way. According to IGN, the band Queen may plan on Read the rest of this entry »

Posted by kiki kat in A Slice of Us, Events, I thought this was cool on September 22nd, 2009
Just a few quick pics of the ODST event in Seattle at the EMP. Crazy Echo covered the line and event, I am covering the cool peeps I hung with!
On a side note. I love my G1! It is so easy to snap pics with it (except in the dark) and the pics don’t come out too bad either!

Videogames + Rock Music = Ultra Violence?
Posted by kiki kat in A Slice of Us on September 14th, 2009
Last night I was playing Guitar Hero 5 with some friends and we came across the song Du Hast by Rammstein. I took the vocals (because I love singing!) and when the song ended I felt really, really aggressive. I asked my band mates if that song made them feel aggressive as well and they agreed. We were all really focused on the song and when we completed the song it felt like a surge of adrenaline shot through us. So that got me thinking… if rock and roll music can make people do bad things and if videogames make people do bad things… what happens when you combine the two? Surprisingly I haven’t seen any studies on violence in videogames with games like Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
We all know (from movies such as Footloose) that music brings out the devil in you and we are consistently inundated with articles telling us the ‘truth’ about videogames and violence; but no one ever talks about what happens when the two marry. What happens when you play a videogame AND it plays the devils music? Shouldn’t we feel twice as violent and want to cause even more mayhem?
It would be interesting to see how Rock Band holds up against Grand Theft Auto IV on the aggression tests certain researchers like to use to measure the aggressions and arousal of participants. My initial response is NEIN! But, I really felt a surge of emotions after finishing the song, and I didn’t even know what the heck I was singing since it was in German.
On a side note; my avatar looked awesome rocking out on stage! Love that option on Guitar Hero 5!
