The Blanket Project

allison Living in a cold climate effects causes more then chilly fingers and noses for a lot of people, and together we can help. There are tons of shelters in which you can donate your time and money but me and our friend and my fellow Microsoft MVP, kilaMOMjaro, are putting together a blanket project to create blankets for donating to a local family shelter – Solid Ground Family Shelter. The blankets are super warm and cuddly (I have seen and felt them firsthand).

On Saturday the 20th of February anyone local (Seattle/Eastside) area can gather with us and donate their time to make the quilts for these children. If you can make it, awesome! Please stop by. If not, bummer, but you can also donate towards supplies. Click on the nifty graphic for more info and to donate directly to the cause. We all care and I am sure we can all find $10 to support a good cause. Contact GOFBlankets@gmail.com for more info.

Thx!

Foosh/Buzz Bites 2.0

vroomcomboBefore you start, I’d like to point you Chris’ AWESOME review.  To avoid repeating things and thus being extremely lame and boring, you can check out his review to get the low down.  I was the second guinea pig of this experiment and have had some similar findings along with some sleepless nights.  Having fresh breath and the energy to be up all night long does have it’s advantages. ;) Read the rest of this entry »

What is 51? The answer is here!

Fiftyone Marketing has ended their campaign that had some of you asking for months “What is 51?”  There were clues, videos, lists, images and tweets.  Now we know the answer.  It’s a new marketing company that holds a vision and understanding like no other marketing company you’ve known before.  It is made up of gamers and represents a wide spectrum of gamers first hand.  Our very own Kiki Kat happens to be on the staff over there so you already know at least one of them and I bet you’ll see some other familiar peeps too.

Today marks the launch of their website www.fiftyonemarketing.com and you are invited to sign up.  Say hello and meet some really cool people.  They have a blog that will be updated with company information, promotions and events.  You can be a part of it and take part in discussions on the blog or just speak your mind.  There is always something going on or something up a sleeve there so don’t miss out.  You can also follow them on Twitter and Facebook.  See you there.

Get a Masters Degree in Beatlemania!

beatles-the-the-beatles-1192706Liverpool Hope University in the United Kingdom is offering courses toward a Masters of Arts degree in the Beatles. According to their website: This MA will examine the significance of the music of the Beatles in the construction of identities, audiences, ethnicities and industries, and localities… This all sounds really cool, but what could you do with a degree like this? The website states that: This MA will be of interest to those working in the fields of popular music studies, cultural studies, social anthropology, politics, gender studies, and musicology, among others.

Currently there are four modules for this program:

Texts and Contexts: Understanding Popular Music
This will offer the student an understanding of how Popular Music Studies has expanded and developed to deal with the changing nature of popular music over the past 50 years. This module will also provide students with contextually related research methods.

Topics in History: Liverpool
This module will introduce and discuss musical production and consumption within the post WWII era and will discuss the roles of locality, economics, space and place, and other issues specifically relating to Merseyside.

Musicology and the Beatles
In this module students will take a popular music semiotics approach and will textually analyse a variety of Beatles material.

Historical and Critical Approaches
Students will be invited to study a more ethnographic approach to the Beatles, the various cultural discourses surrounding their music, and the local tourist industry established in Liverpool to capitalise on the group.

Check out the website for more info on program length, entry criteria, and dissertation information.

Behemoth, DLC, Free…..what else is there to say?

The mayor of Behemoth Town has announced that they are kicking it into top gear with their Necromantic DLC giveaway.   Now is the time where you head over to the dev blog and find out how you can become a Necromantic DLC owner.  They have around 2000 codes to give away, so there are plenty of chances to win.  Not many companies take the time to do this on such a large scale so be sure to take advantage of it.  I’ll give you head start…..follow them on twitter:)   Also you can check out our experience in the game.  There’s a code at the end of it and I never recieved a message from anyone saying they got it.  Who knows maybe it still works.  Let us know if you get it.

CosPlay at TGS 2009

kiki kat-lOne of my favorite things about the Tokyo Game Show is all the pictures from the cos-play. After rifling through a bunch of pics it looks like this year didn’t disapoint!  Dude, think of how many hours were put into finding that perfect pose and how many posing jam sessions there were. Check out some of the pics at these sites:

Also, it appears there are written rules when taking pics of the cos players. One of the rules is just normal comon sense if you are not socially inept, asking permission.

  • “Photography or filming near the ailes is prohibited.”
  • “You must obtain persmission from the subject(s) before taking photographs or filming. Also, all photography and filming must be done with a wall in the background so as to avoid including other people in your shots.”
  • “You will be asked to stop taking photographs or filming if staff judges it is causing inconvenience to others.”

Fun at the ODST event!

Just a few quick pics of the ODST event in Seattle at the EMP.  Crazy Echo covered the line and event, I am covering the cool peeps I hung with! :)   On a side note.  I love my G1!  It is so easy to snap pics with it (except in the dark) and the pics don’t come out too bad either!
