The Breakdown

It’s hard to describe an RTS that takes cues from games like Lemmings and Smash TV and that also visually pays homage to old school vector graphics in a single sentence; so let’s use just a single word. Awesome!

The Important Stuff

Back in 2006 Introversion Software won a few prestigious awards at the Independant Games Festival, including the Seumas McNally Grand Prize, for their PC title Darwinia. Now their hard-to-classify-yet-extremely-addicting creation has made its way onto the Xbox Live Arcade. Read the rest of this entry »

Hello Kitty Saves Lives

Have you been looking for a good reason to join Hello Kitty Online?  Well now you have a good reason to. As you know, Haiti just had a horrible earthquake that claimed the lives of millions and left the survivors homeless and injured. Well now this amazing game is doing an amazing thing.

Hello Kitty Online will have “Food for Friends 2.”  This event lasts from January 21-30, 2010.  When you play you earn donation points. The donation points will be added up and real money will be sent to Doctors Without Borders for aid in Haiti. This sounds like a great charity event, Hello Kitty and helping people? That’s the best combination EVER!

Well now you have a reason to join Hello Kitty Online. And remember to tell your friends your doing this not only because this game rocks, but to help survivors in Haiti.

But seriously, earthquakes stink so lets help the survivors of Haiti out by doing what we do best. By that of course I mean palying Hello Kitty Online.

The Blanket Project

allison Living in a cold climate effects causes more then chilly fingers and noses for a lot of people, and together we can help. There are tons of shelters in which you can donate your time and money but me and our friend and my fellow Microsoft MVP, kilaMOMjaro, are putting together a blanket project to create blankets for donating to a local family shelter – Solid Ground Family Shelter. The blankets are super warm and cuddly (I have seen and felt them firsthand).

On Saturday the 20th of February anyone local (Seattle/Eastside) area can gather with us and donate their time to make the quilts for these children. If you can make it, awesome! Please stop by. If not, bummer, but you can also donate towards supplies. Click on the nifty graphic for more info and to donate directly to the cause. We all care and I am sure we can all find $10 to support a good cause. Contact GOFBlankets@gmail.com for more info.

Thx!

What About Tiger Woods PGA Tour?

Let me get one thing cleared up before I start writing this. The following is written just to clear things up about a videogame and has nothing to do with Tiger’s personal life.

tiger-woods-pga-tour-10As you’ve probably heard, all of Tiger’s sponsors are leaving him. But what about EA’s hit golf game Tiger Wood’s PGA Tour? With all that DLC bought and online points won, whats going to happen? I was really worried, that game’s one of my favorite sports game. With all the live weather and live golf tourneys, I was fearing we would lose all of that.

Well thank goodness good old Peter Moore answered our long awaited call yesterday. EA Sports will continue with the franchise. Here’s what Peter said on his blog:

By his own admission, he’s made some mistakes off the course. But regardless of what’s happening in his personal life, and regardless of his decision to take a personal leave from the sport, Tiger Woods is still one of the greatest athletes in history.

So there you go golf fans, the game will be continued.

Get ready for another Invasion!

left-4-dead-2Get ready for another Invasion on the Xbox LIVE community.  A bunch of my MVP buddies have agreed to hop on an participate in the Invasion!  We plan to do this every month so get ready!

This month’s will feature Left 4 Dead 2 and will take place on December 27, 2009, between 5 PM and 8 PM PST.

Check out the post by Peench at PGL: The Invasion is an event where gamers who know what gaming is about and simply want to have fun can all get together and have fun gaming. There will be loads of different rooms to hop in and out to meet other cool gamers and have a few hours of gaming fun without having to instantly mute everyone in the room.

Keep your eyes peeled across various comunity sites as more information is revealed and save the 12/27/09 date on your calendar for some gaming fun!

About the Invasion (From Deacon Blade):

The voice of those who aren’t pleased with behavior on Xbox Live is growing and I wanted to create an avenue bigger than just finding a friend of a friend of a friend…hence the reason why The Invasion began.

I wanted to coordinate a huge gaming night for as many communities as possible and it worked.  There were over 23 communities involved in the first attack and they all left thinking it was amazing to play with people who weren’t shouting racism around or stupid profanities etc.

It was one big night of making friends and gaming with complete strangers…one big night of everyone letting their hair down.

First Look into Halo: Reach

halo-reach-logoSince the first announcement of Bungie’s newest title in the works, Halo: Reach, any information about this game has been kept deep within the vault of Bungie’s deepest secrets. The only knowledge we have of this game is the story we know from the Halo novel Fall of Reach. If you aren’t familiar with the novel, in a brief summary it’s about the training of the Spartan-IIs and the Covanent attack on the human world Reach. You can pick up the novel at the Bungie Store for more Covanent ass kicking!

Spike TV will have a first glance into Halo: Reach with a first world premiere video from the opening of the game. Catch this at 8:00 PM EST on December 12, 2009. Until then, check out the promotion for it below:

Modern Warfare 2 sets Preorder record

mw2boxartGamestop has now set a new record for most preordered game, and no, this time it was not a halo game.  In fact it is Infinity Ward’s most hyped game, Modern Warefare 2.  According to Tony Bartel, executive vice president for GameStop. “As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we’ve taken for the game is the highest for any title we’ve ever sold in our 6,200 store network.”

Modern Warefare 2 is Set to release next Tuesday I am sure it will be a busy day, with many stores opening to sell the game at midnight.  I myself have not preordered the game but I am going to pick it up on Tuesday, there is no doubt about that.   For more information, be sure to check out this article in USA Today.
