Ancients of Ooga New Release Date

Our friends at NinjaBee have just announced that their spiritual successor to Cloning Clyde will be released on June 30th.  The game was originally set to be released during the week of E3 on June 15th.  I think the slight delay may be partially due to the buzz surrounding E3.  It’s not a huge delay so relax, enjoy E3 and before you know it you’ll be saving the Ooganis and kicking Boolis ass.

If you read this and wonder what the hell I’m talking about then check this out.

Basically if you’re a fan of the newly appointed Xbox Arcade Hit Cloning Clyde then you’ll want to be sure to give this a look.  It has nothing to do with Cloning Clyde in terms of story but it offers the quirky comedic action and unique gameplay that made Cloning Clyde the popular game it is.

In this game you’ll be helping other Oogani tribes uncover lost powers and tribal leaders in a mystical world in order to lead a revolt a ruler who is less than democratic.  It’s up to you to lead the way and apparently eat a lot of things while you’re at it.  The best news is that this will only cost 800 MSP.  Change the date, keep the price…..that’s cool with me.

You can check out all the hype by following Ninjabee on twitter and Facebook.  You can also dress your Avatar in some pretty cool NinjaBee stuff.  Everything else can be found on the official NinjaBee website.

Arcade Rewind: Battlefield 1943

Battlefield-1943Platforms: Playstation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade

Developer: DICE

Online: 2-24 players

Cost: 1200 MS points ($15)

Battlefield 1943, what a great game! For only $15 you get an amazing multiplayer game that almost never gets old. This is probably one of the only games that I have played longer than 72 hours. So if you are into first person shooters and like the Battlefield games, I highly suggest buying this game. Here are some things that make this game great.

  • Three maps for conquest modebattlefield1943frisskepekerkeztek_2
  • Two teams (US & Japan)
  • Jeeps, planes, boats and tanks
  • Up to 24 player games
  • Air superiority mode
  • Squads
  • Helpful tutorial
  • Easy to pick up controls

What makes this different from other games? No camping, if you try to camp the building you’re in will most likely be blown into pieces. The maps are enormous, with brilliantly placed vehicles and sniper towers.

Let’s talk about vehicles. Jeeps hold three people and get you where you want fast. Tanks are extremely powerful and can destroy a jeep in one shot with it’s cannon. The tanks can hold two people. The planes can wipe out a tank with only one bomb although it’s extremly hard to master.

Now lets talk about the bombers. They are extremely powerful and can flatten a base. You start a bomb run by going into a certain bunker. After you enter the bunker you have control of three bombers that release their bombs simultaneously at your command. But enemy fighters and AA guns can destroy the fighters so be careful.

Overall the game is great except it has some major lag issues.

Arcade Feed: Bust-a-Move Live!

This week in Xbox Live Arcade –

Bust-a-Move Live makes it’s way to the Xbox Live Arcade this week.  I can’t really say it any better than they did on xbox.com - Bust-A-Move returns, with its original gameplay still intact: Fire bubbles at the bubble clusters on each stage to destroy them! That’s it.  It’s simple and addictive.  It’s similar to Zuma and very similar to a flash and cell phone game called snood.  Bust-A-Move is also known as Puzzle Bobble since it stars your favorite Bubble Bobble characters.  This time the baddies are already encased in a bubble and it’s up to you to match up the colors and clear the board before they fall below the line above your bubble launching machine.  It’s a very simplistic style of gameplay and very addictive.  So addictive in fact,  I thought the demo was too short and ended up buying it.  If you’re a puzzle fan this is for you.

Behemoth, DLC, Free…..what else is there to say?

The mayor of Behemoth Town has announced that they are kicking it into top gear with their Necromantic DLC giveaway.   Now is the time where you head over to the dev blog and find out how you can become a Necromantic DLC owner.  They have around 2000 codes to give away, so there are plenty of chances to win.  Not many companies take the time to do this on such a large scale so be sure to take advantage of it.  I’ll give you head start…..follow them on twitter:)   Also you can check out our experience in the game.  There’s a code at the end of it and I never recieved a message from anyone saying they got it.  Who knows maybe it still works.  Let us know if you get it.

Arcade Feed: Bubble Bobble Neo

This week in Xbox Live Arcade –

Bubble Bobble Neo is a remake or a reimagined version of Bubble Bobble.  The original game was released as an arcade cabinet and subsequently ported to quite a few different gaming mediums.  I remember it most for the NES and it’s quarter hogging Arcade machine from the gas station by the mall.  This version does the original proud, and those of you who remember this game from younger days Read the rest of this entry »

Arcade Feed: Sonic and Knuckles

This week in Xbox Live Arcade –

I’m finally getting around to the Sonic and Knuckles Arcade Feed.  I did give a little preview with the contest on what this game contains.  You’ll notice I suck in the video and that’s because I have to record with a second delay due to some technical difficulties with my set up.  It’s quite a challenge.  Luckily for me this game is a carbon copy of its other versions in various game formats.

The gameplay is the same as it always was and picks up where Sonic left off in Sonic 3.  You’ll notice that in the bonus options if you own the other XBLA versions of Sonic 1, 2 and 3; that you’ll be able to emulate the lock-on technology that was featured in the cartridge version released on the Sega Genesis.  For Sonic fans this is of course a buy and the lock-on emulation adds more gameplay to your other XBLA titles.  If you don’t already own it from the myriad of compilations available for consoles then 400 MS points isn’t too bad.

Arcade Feed: A CONTEST!?!?!?!

This week on Xbox Live Arcade we also have Sonic and Knuckles releasing for the  XBLA.  This game is going to release with an interesting feature called Lock-on Technology.  Now for those of you who owned Sonic and Knuckles for the Sega game system know that this is nothing new.  However it’s new to XBLA.  If you own any of the other Sonic games such as Sonic 1, 2  or 3 for XBLA, new options and levels will be added to those games when you buy Sonic and Knuckles.

“But Scratch, I don’t own the other games for XBLA!“  Well, that’s where the contest comes in.  Breaking the Game is giving away a code for Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic 2 for XBLA.  All you have to do is tweet the following on twitter

RT @BreakingTheGame RT Arcade  Feed: A CONTEST!?!?!?! « Breaking The Game http://bit.ly/4j5wXv

A winner will be selected from the list it generates and announced after Wednesday.  Good Luck!

Edit: had to make a change don’t worry though we still have everyone.  :)

Congratulations to AblativMeatshld!!!

Thanks for playing and look for more soon.

Arcade Feed: Wallace and Gromit Episode 2: the Last Resort

This week in Xbox Live Arcade –

This week we finally get to play Wallace and Gromit Episode 2 on the XBLA.  The 4 part series has already been released for the PC.  I’ll spare you the details as I have reviewed this game on here on the site already.  However, there is a certain minor difference.  :) Achievements!!    It appears to me that this will be an easy 200 as most of the achievements can be picked up in one play through and are story based.

One point I’d like to make.  If you like this sort of game,  get the first episode and run through that before moving on to the second.  You’ll enjoy the story of the series more as well as pick up another easy 200 points.  If you get stuck be sure to head over to Telltale’s walk through for help.   Be on the lookout for the rest of the series to make its way onto XBLA in the future.

Arcade Feed: Defense Grid

This week in Xbox Live Arcade –

The best defense is a good offense.  That’s not quite the case with Defense Grid.  As the name suggests, you will be defending.  Defense Grid takes the real time strategy genre and rips out the tower defense mechanism, adds a linear path for enemies to follow and leaves it up to you to decide how to best defend your power core.

You’ll get a slew of different types of towers from flame throwers to laser cannons.  The object is simple stop a parade of enemies from marching in and taking your power cores  with defense towers.  Finish all the waves with one or more power cores remaining and you’ve passed the level.

At first glance it seems like you just do the same thing over and over on each level.  In actuality, you do.  I’ll admit at first I was doing great in the first few levels and it seemed no matter what I did I wasn’t going lose.  However, in the later stages I found myself having to restart the level a few times and actually thinking of what I should be doing.

The gameplay is nothing like I’ve ever played.  It’s pretty slow paced and not too frustrating making it easy to squeeze in a level or two.  It also auto saves checkpoints so you can leave mid game if you need to.  It’s not like an RTS game where you’ll be able to speed up the pace of the game depending on your strategy.  Your strategy will determine how many cores you are left with when the level is complete.  In RTS games you typically just don’t focus entirely on defense and if you do it’s not just your towers that concern you.  This game does a decent job of making that fun.  I’d say definitely download the demo and give this a chance.
